We sell smartphones on instalments in Kenya, and we try to be boringly clear about how it works.
A smartphone in Kenya is a working tool. It is how a rider takes the next job, how a shop takes a payment, how a student reaches a class and how a family stays in touch. The problem is rarely that people do not want one — it is that the whole price has to appear at once.
PataSimu exists to take that lump out of the way. You choose a phone, you pay a deposit and a security fee, you take the handset home, and you pay the rest in instalments over an agreed period. At the end of the plan the phone is yours outright.
We carry ZTE, vivo and Apple iPhone, deliberately spanning entry-level through to premium, and every handset we sell is new.
These are things we control, so they are things we are prepared to promise.

Deposit, fee, total and each payment, shown before you sign, in writing.
We ask for what the application needs and no more, and we tell you what it is for.
Finish the plan and the handset is yours. That is the whole point of the product.
PataSimu is new. There are things a customer might reasonably expect to find on a page like this that we are not going to put here until they are true and checked:
The documents that will bind you are published here in draft, marked as draft, while they are under legal review — you can read them before you give us anything at all.
