Terms & Conditions

The terms on which you may use the PataSimu website.

This document is in draft and under legal review. It is published for transparency and does not yet constitute the final agreement.

The short version. This website shows you phones and works out example instalment figures. It cannot take your money, it cannot decide whether you may have credit, and it cannot reserve a phone for you. When you send an application you are telling us you are interested; the plan itself is explained, agreed and signed with an agent, in person.

1. What this website is

PataSimu is a smartphone instalment service operated by MovaPay. This website is where you can look at the phones we finance, see example figures for paying in instalments, and tell us you are interested. It is a shop window and a form, and nothing more than that.

[The contracting entity's registered name, company registration number, registered office and contact particulars, and the entity's authorisation status for the provision of credit — legal to confirm. No claim of any licence, registration or authorisation is made anywhere on this website until this clause is settled.]

2. There are no payments on this website

PataSimu does not collect card details, bank details, mobile-money PINs or any payment through this website. Deposits and instalments are paid through the channels set out in the agreement you sign at a PataSimu shop. If any page, message or caller claiming to be PataSimu asks you to pay through this website, or asks you for a PIN or a one-time code, it is not us.

3. Nothing here decides whether you can have credit

Sending an application through this website is an expression of interest. It is not an application decision, and no decision about you is made automatically by this website. Whether an instalment plan can be offered to you, and on what terms, is settled with an agent after your identity has been checked in person. Either side is free to walk away up to the moment the agreement is signed.

4. Prices and plans are indicative

Every figure shown on this website — the cash price, the deposit, the security fee, the total and the instalment — is worked out from the price and the terms in force at the moment the page loads, and is labelled indicative for that reason. Prices and terms can change. The figures that bind you are the ones written in the agreement you sign.

5. Stock

Showing a phone here does not mean it is in stock at the shop you visit, and sending an application does not reserve one. Where we know a model is out of stock we say so and let you register your interest instead.

6. What we ask of you

  • Give us details that are true, and your own. Do not submit somebody else's name, phone number or ID number.
  • Use a phone number you can answer, because that is how we reach you.
  • Tell us if your details change.

If the details you give turn out to be untrue, we may decline to take the application further.

7. Your one-time code

The code we send by SMS is yours alone. Do not share it with anyone, including anyone who says they are from PataSimu — we will never ask you for it.

8. Acceptable use

Please do not try to break into, overload, scrape or disrupt this website, or use it to send anything unlawful. We may block access where we think that is happening.

9. Our content

The text, artwork, brand marks and page designs on this website belong to MovaPay or to whoever licensed them to us. You may read and share pages normally; please do not copy the content for your own commercial use without asking.

10. Availability

We work to keep this website up, but we do not promise it will always be available or free of faults. We may change or withdraw any part of it.

Where we link to somebody else's website, we are not responsible for what is on it.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top of the page tells you when they last changed, and the version on the site at the time you use it is the one that applies.
